Former World No.1 Andy Roddick took a stroll down memory lane as he recalled his journey to the title at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships in 2008.
Roddick, the sixth seed at the event, was far from the tournament favorite as it also featured Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal Novak Djokovic and a young Andy Murray. However, the American fought his way through the competition, defeating Feliciano Lopez in the final to lift the prestigious title.
A fan on Twitter asked Roddick about the importance of that particular title, considering it was one of the biggest of his career. The 2003 US Open champion responded by stating the event might have had the "strongest field ever" in a tournament.
"I actually think this was the strongest 32 person tourney ever. Murray/Fed first round. Just insane! Up there w best I ever played for a week,” wrote Roddick.
Roddick's journey to the final saw him defeating top players, including the third-seeded Novak Djokovic, in the semifinals. Federer, the defending champion, was upset by Andy Murray in the opening round.
