Jordan Thompson has ended the comeback of Gael Monfils early at BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells with the Aussie motoring past the returning Frenchman 6-3, 6-1
It has not been the best season for Thompson who had only won once in three months up to this point but add win number two as he will hope to take some confidence forward.
For Monfils, it was always going to be an uphill task given he has struggled with injury and not played for a year but after many withdrawals, he is finally back on court.
Also last night at BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells, Yibing Wu who is now China's number one set his stall out with a superb win over Jaume Munar 6-7(6), 6-0, 7-6(3)
It is his first action since Dallas and his first ATP 1000 tournament since Shanghai 2018 in a game where he faced just two break points and closed it off with an incredible diving volley. Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina now awaits.

That one felt good 😄
