Former top-15 player Viktor Troicki has become Serbia's Davis Cup captain, embracing a new role after a couple of mediocre seasons on the Tour without any good result.
Drawing most from his abilities, Viktor almost cracked the top-10, playing some big matches and challenging the rivals from the top. A few days ago, TennisTV published a famous video about Troicki's meltdown from Rome 2013 against Ernests Gulbis. It was their first meeting on the Tour, and Viktor made sure to make it a memorable one despite a 6-1, 6-1 loss in 71 minutes.
Losing the opening set 6-1, the Serb hit a questionable backhand in the second set's first game that Cedric Mourier called out. Mourier went from his chair to confirm his call, but Troicki didn't want to leave it and move on, continuing to argue and forcing the cameraman to capture the mark. Viktor decided to continue but was never a contender, winning only one game by the end of the clash, hitting the exit door in just over 70 minutes.
"No, come on, Cedric, you know you're wrong. You called it, and now you don't want to overrule yourself. Come on; there is no space, you know that. I don't want to play like this; there is zero space there. You don't want to correct yourself because you always think you're right, but you're not. There is no chance it's out. From the space, you can see it's there," Viktor Troicki said.
