Former world no. 2 and Indian Wells tournament director Tommy Haas is still in great shape, playing tennis regularly and enjoying the Californian sun, not necessarily with the racquet in his hands.
Nadal became so dominant at Roland Garros that other active and retired players often mention him in funny comments. Haas hit a few balls with a wooden spoon, challenging Rafa to pick a similar one and try to win this year's Roland Garros with it. Since 2005, Nadal has won 100 out of 102 matches in Paris, suffering only two losses in 2009 and 2015 against Robin Soderling and Novak Djokovic and claiming 13 trophies from 16 trips to Paris.
After failing to go all the way in 2015 and 2016, the Spaniard regained his Parisian throne in 2017, standing strong in the previous three years and dropping only three sets in 28 matches! Last October, Rafa claimed the 13th Roland Garros title, winning all encounters in straight sets and writing the record books at 34.
It was Nadal's 20th Major title, joining Roger Federer at the top of the GOAT race list and saving the season at the reduced year's last Major. In the title match, Rafa defeated Novak Djokovic 6-0, 6-2, 7-5 in two hours and 41 minutes, controlling the pace on both serve and return to topple a great rival and win the title in style.
