The TennisTV recently uploaded a video with some of the most remarkable comebacks on the ATP Tour, with players coming from the verge of defeat to celebrate victories.
In Indian Wells 2009, the Australian Open champion Rafael Nadal had to dig deep against David Nalbandian and save five match points in the second set's games nine and ten to prevail. From 6-3, 5-3 down, the Spaniard claimed the second set in the tie break and gained a massive boost ahead of the decider. Nalbandian had nothing more left in the tank following those chances he missed, suffering a bagel in the final set to propel Nadal through.
In Rome 2005, the young Spaniard Fernando Verdasco faced Andy Roddick and trailed 7-6, 5-3, 40-0. Roddick showed the act of sportsmanship in that ninth game, wasted four match points and allowed Verdasco to level the score at 5-5. The Spaniard painted a forehand down the line winner at 6-3 in the tie break to steal the set and won the decider 6-4 to emerge at the top.
Last year in Dubai, Gael Monfils won the opening set 6-2 against Novak Djokovic and had three match points at 6-3 in the tie break. Novak remained calm, saved those and stole the breaker 10-8 before winning the decider 6-1 to stay on the title course.
