Jessica Pegula has been announced as an entrant at the event.
A WTA 500 event, the Charleston Open is one of the few professional clay court tennis tournaments in the United States. Backed financially by the father of World No.8
Emma Navarro, the tournament often showcases highly talented American players, with Sloane Stephens and Madison Keys having won the title in the past. The retiring Danielle Collins is the defending champion, although the former World No.7 is not likely to participate at next year's event.
Pegula leading the way for Americans on tour
The Buffalo native has had an incredible season, reaching her maiden Grand Slam final at the 2024 US Open. Although she fell to a red-hot Aryna Sabalenka in the final, Pegula has shown she is ready to take the next step in America's search for another Grand Slam champion.
Prior to the US Open, Pegula successfully defended her title at the Canadian Open. The 30-year old would go on to react the final in Cincinnati the following week, falling to familiar foe Sabalenka in an exciting finish. Subsequently, Pegula leapfrogged compatriot Coco Gauff in the WTA rankings, where she now sits as the World No.3 on the WTA tour.
