Stefanos Tsitsipas is back in the Rome Open semi-final after battling past Borna Coric with a pretty strong effort in two sets 6-3 6-4.
Tsitsipas played in the Rome final last year taking on Novak Djokovic but it was a losing effort. He's one step away from another final after beating Borna Coric in a solid effort in two sets. The opening set started with both players holding their serve initially and neither really creating too many chances.
Tsitsipas would be the first one to break and it came at the perfect time to set himself up to serve out the set. He did that with the final score being 6-3. The serve was a major weapon for Tsitsipas in Rome as he won a lot of big and important points with it. He also had more winners in the first set though Coric upped his aggressiveness in the second set.
Despite that, Tsitsipas was up early though Coric made it a tie game at 4-4. The aggressive play didn't work out in the 9th game of the second set as he had 3 cheap errors which allowed Tsitsipas to break once more and this time around he didn't let it go away as he closed out the match 6-4. A good win for the Greek, mostly thanks to his serve which was better than that of Coric.
