The biggest result of his career? 🙌 Filip Krajinovic matches his best-ever win by ranking, defeating World No. 4 Tsitsipas 3-6 6-1 6-3 #HamburgOpen
Stefanos Tsitsipas has been dumped out of the Hamburg European Open with defeat to Filip Krajinovic with the sixth seed getting the better of the World No.4 on his return to action.
His only other top 10 win recently was Dominic Thiem in a completed match last year in Cincinnati and now Laslo Djere awaits for a place in the final after a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 triumph.
He was 5-0 behind in the five set but outplayed Tsitsipas from there rallying to make the set competitive at 6-3 but he rocketed through the second 6-1.
Towards the end of the match, Tsitsipas in the decider looked like he flew through his service game to put pressure on Krajinovic to serve it out but it was long and he went to deuce. Another ace came in his direction though only for Krajinovic to keep on coming with a stunning forehand return.
Double fault
A double fault brought up match points for Krajinovic and Tsitsipas produced an error as it went long and he was out of the tournament from there.
It's a first win for Krajinovic from a set down in 2021 after previously being 0-10 after losing the first set and with Dusan Lajovic also still in the other half, it could set up a Serbian showdown in the final.
