Tsitsipas on Kyrgios: "He was the one who broke our relationship. I didn't do anything. In 2022 Wimbledon I was only trying to compete, while he was playing the clown. It also depends on how he wakes up each day." 😥
Stefanos Tsitsipas and Nick Kyrgios used to get along well but their Wimbledon match last year saw them clash on the court and it's been cold ever since.
Tsitsipas and Kyrgios used to be on good terms a few years ago and while Kyrgios would claim they're still good, it's not been the same between them. From playing doubles enthusiastically a few years to barely speaking during their doubles match at the exhibitions event in the Gulf earlier this year.
The breakdown seemingly happened at Wimbledon this year where emotions boiled over in a very intense match. Tsitsipas seemingly aimed at Kyrgios during a point which provoked a crowd reaction at Wimbledon. He then lost it when he smashed a ball towards the crowd with Kyrgios wanting him defaulted for that action.
It's been all kinds of commentary after the match and in the months following it with the most recent one coming from Tsitsipas. He said:
"He was the one who broke our relationship. I didn't do anything. In 2022 Wimbledon I was only trying to compete, while he was playing the clown. It also depends on how he wakes up each day."
