Stefanos Tsitsipas has passed the first hurdle at the 2021 BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells by defeating Pedro Martinez 6-2, 6-4 to move into the third round for the first time.
Tsitsipas only needed 93 minutes to win through claiming 63% of first serve points and 80% on second serves to win through.
As well as that, it was 22 winners as his consistency won him through shown by only 11 unforced errors to Martinez' 21.
He will now get Fabio Fognini next up who saw off Jan-Lennard Struff in the second round but it could have been so much different at times.
Tsitsipas came out the blocks for a 2-0 advantage and surged the first set with 11 winners, eight coming off his forehand and only five unforced errors but it was less of a simpler equation at times in the second.
Martinez consolidated for a 3-1 advantage after breaking but for Tsitsipas, he began to find his form again reeling off three straight games before breaking again to claim the tie.
