Stefanos Tsitsipas has a really solid grass season last year, probably the best of his career with a trophy in Mallorca and a solid run at Wimbledon and this year's will begin early in Stuttgart.
Tsitsipas isn't having the best of years despite a superb start earlier this year in Australia. The Greek player struggled with his tennis for much of this year losing some matches that he could have won easily. It's simply a product of having high standards for him as a player even though the numbers look fine.
31 wins in 40 matches is really good as well as two finals and a couple of deep runs at some big events. The Greek is generally a player who is quite consistent and this year is proving that. He's also one of only a few players that has won a trophy on all 3 major surfaces which he completed last year when he triumphed in Mallorca on grass.
That was his maiden trophy on the surface as he became quite a bit a better on it last year. Before that Tsitsipas struggled a lot as he lacked a good block serve and his backhand side was an easy target for serves. That changed last year and he'll hope to keep that going this year with his first event being the Stuttgart ATP 250 event.
He wasn't initially in the draw but he accepted a wild card entry into the vent after his exit at Roland Garros to Carlos Alcaraz. The event begins on Monday, June 12th and will go on till the 18th. Tsitsipas released a statement following his decision to accept a wild card:
"The Weissenhof is a club with a lot of tradition and I am looking forward to starting my grass court preparation here next week."
