Following the Australian Open, the UTR ranking sees some shifts compared to the official ATP rankings. Novak Djokovic climbs to second place in the alternative ranking, overtaking Carlos Alcaraz, while Joao Fonseca makes a significant jump into the top 40.

Unlike the ATP rankings, which rely on tournament points, the Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) assesses a player's current form based on performance consistency. It operates on a 16-point scale, factoring in the last 30 matches played over the past year. Rather than focusing solely on results, the system evaluates match competitiveness and gives more weight to wins against higher-ranked players.

Sinner remains untouched at the top

Jannik Sinner has maintained his No. 1 spot in the UTR ranking even before reaching the top of the ATP rankings, especially after successfully defending his Australian Open title—his third Grand Slam trophy. Meanwhile, finalist Alexander Zverev sits at No. 4, two spots lower than his ATP ranking.

Novak Djokovic secured the second position after a strong run in Melbourne, reaching the semifinals before withdrawing against Zverev. His crucial victory over Carlos Alcaraz played a key role in pushing him ahead of the Spaniard.

The 5th and 6th spots are occupied by Americans Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul, the latter entering the ATP top 10 for the first time in his career this week.

Some players have seen notable drops compared to the ATP rankings, such as Stefanos Tsitsipas (ATP No. 12), who sits at No. 29, and world No. 5 Casper Ruud, who ranks only 30th in UTR.

On the other hand, some players rank significantly higher than their ATP positions. Brazilian rising star Joao Fonseca(ATP No. 99) is No. 40, Thanasi Kokkinakis (ATP No. 72) holds No. 21 , Denis Shapovalov (ATP No. 53 sits at No. 27 ), and Milos Raonic (ATP No. 245), is an impressive No. 28 in the UTR rankings.
