Canadian tennis player
Vasek Pospisil became another player to
criticise the ATP for the organisation of the
Paris Masters.
There has been a lot of criticism about the timing schedule of
the ongoing tournament from several players.
Italy’s Jannik Sinner became the first high-profile player
to withdraw from the competition as his round of 32 clash against America’s Mackenzie
McDonald — where he ended up winning the fixture with a score 6-7, 7-5, 6-1 — finished
around 2 AM.
Pospisil, while responding to a comment from Norway’s Casper
Ruud, stated that ATP never cared about the players.
"The @atptour has never cared about the players. In 2018 I
finished a 3h battle at 12:45am & was scheduled to play at 1pm next day.
Not joking. All they could say was “this is within the rules”. The next day I
herniated my disc after 4 games, had surgery and was out for 9 months," he wrote.
The competition’s final will be played on Sunday between the
current world number one Novak Djokovic and Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov.
The 36-year-old defeated Russia’s Andrey Rublev in the semifinal
with a score of 5-7, 7-5, 7-5 on Saturday.
On the other hand, Dimitrov got the better of Greece’s
tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas with a score of 6-3, 6-7, 7-6.
