America’s young tennis sensation
Ben Shelton has received a lot of love from Chinese fans in a video posted on social
media.
The 21-year-old is currently taking
part in the
Shanghai Masters in China where he has showcased his talent to the
local as well as foreign fans.
In a very small period of time, Shelton
has managed to gain a lot of support from the local fans.
That became even more evident with
a new video posted on social media platform X—previously known as Twitter—where
the local fans ended up signing a Happy Birthday song for a young tennis star who
has recently turned 21.
On the court, Shelton has produced
a remarkable comeback after losing the first set to defeat the world number four
Italy’s Jannik Sinner in the round of 16 times with a score of 2-6, 6-3, 7-6.
The Atlanta-born is often regarded
as the best young American men’s singles player currently playing in the
circuit.
He lived up to the hype in the
recently concluded US Open where he went as far as the semifinal but eventually
lost to the current world number one Serbia’s Novak Djokovic with a score of 6-3,
6-2, 7-6.
Shelton is now set to face fellow
American Sebastian Korda in the quarterfinal of the competition on Friday.
