Despite the somewhat tragic end to his tennis career, Argentine
Juan Martin del Potro still maintained his sense of humor when spotted together with compatriot and retired NBA star Manu Ginobili in New York at the
US Open.
The duo were in a lobby, surrounded by the names of the previous winners of the US Open. Del Potro began reading off the list, beginning with
Roger Federer before pointing out where he ruined the Swiss star's record.
Del Potro finds humor in lone Grand Slam win
“Federer, Federer, Federer, Federer, Federer," said the former World No.3 as he read the list of previous champions.
"And here, I screwed it up.”
This was in reference to the Argentine's upset win over the 20-time Grand Slam champion at the 2009 edition of the event. Del Potro stunned the world by defeating Federer in the final, as the Swiss superstar had just won five US Open titles in a row.
