Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray battled under the bright lights of Abu Dhabi with the British player emergin victorious in the end.
However, the match featured some strong play by both which can be seen in an extended compilation below. It was the first match for Nadal after undergoing foot surgery earlier in the year for an injury that has troubled him for the better part of the 2021 season. Murray showcased that his good form a few weeks ago was no fluke and that he truly is slowly getting back to some of his old glory.
It was a rusty match by Nadal who overhit quite a few balls but there were a few rallies that resembled Nadal of old. - I heartily disagree with Stubbs here. I mean c'mon! The whole idea of giving out wildcards is to give new & up-coming players a chance at getting as much circuit match-practice under their belts as possible. And this is a HUGE must and opportunity for these new kids on the block. Why curtail opportunities for these newbies in favour of stalwart monopoly?? That just isn't fair. At least give these lesser known players a chance to become more familiar at playing in bigger tournaments & give them also a chance of getting the crowds behind these underdogs.
