The Shanghai Masters seem to have ended the GOAT debate themselves with the tournament bringing Novak Djokovic onto the court with his own special introduction.

Djokovic was introduced as the GOAT to the crowd at the Shanghai Masters in what seemingly is a first time occurrence for the legendary Serbian.

He plays for the first time since the US Open today. Albeit he went 3-0 down early on to Alex Michelsen at the 2024 Shanghai Masters. But with the potential to play the ATP Finals hanging in the balance, he will hope for a good tournament here.

This is despite openly saying he doesn't care about playing in Turin and that he only has the Six Kings Slam and Paris Masters pencilled in to end the years. That might be the case but whether he will snub an invite is another matter.

Technically he is the GOAT though at least in Shanghai. He has the most match wins (34) and the most titles (4). Albeit he is the GOAT only in certain metrics with Jimmy Connors record still to be broken for match wins for instance. But in a lot more, he stands on his own.
