Former World No.1
Rafael Nadal appears to be ramping up his training sessions, as he was seen training with Bulgarian tennis star
Grigor Dimitrov ahead of the Spaniard's return to competitive tennis at
Indian Wells.
The 22-time Grand Slam champion had been sidelined due to injury since last year's Australian Open, missing the rest of the 2023 season. Nadal made his long-anticipated comeback at Brisbane in January, but suffered a hip injury that saw him withdraw from the Melbourne Slam. However, his recovery seems to be complete as he's scheduled to compete at Indian Wells this week.
Nadal engages in brutal practice session with Dimitrov
The Mallorca native faced compatriot
Carlos Alcaraz on March 3 in an exhibition match in Las Vegas, dubbed "The Netflix Slam". Although Alcaraz prevailed in a thrilling third-set tie break, Nadal showed little sign of rust as he employed his signature shots and displayed his trademark defense. This comes as no surprise, considering the Spaniard was captured on video training in the intense heat with former World No.3 Grigor Dimitrov days before his match with Alcaraz.
