Rafael Nadal pulled a Houdini some days ago when he appeared in Melbourne at a time when it was not known whether he would play at the event or not.
Nadal shocked many at the Mubadala World Tennis Championships when he admitted that he was unsure whether he would be playing at the
Australian Open. A positive COVID-19 test a few days later made things even more complicated but all of that resolved over the Christmas holidays and Nadal arrived in Melbourne before the start of the new year.
A couple of people got a glimpse of Nadal practicing in Melbourne upon arrival and one of them was
Craig O’Shannessy, the founder of Brain Game Tennis. He was impressed by what he saw noting his thoughts in a series of tweets posted on his Twitter page.
He wrote:
"Rafael Nadal absolutely, positively, is a better player when he is stepping inside the baseline to attack 2nd serves. The goal is to take time away from the server & force a Serve +1 error. Great offensive component. Happened right now at practice v Munar."
He wrote a couple of more tweets and you can check that out below. The overall impression is that Nadal looks healthy and in very good condition three weeks away from the main event.
