Frances Tiafoe hilariously took aim at his opponent, Ben Shelton as he ripped away his U.S Men's Clay Court Championship title away from him in Houston.
It was a weekend of falls but also positives as he fell twice on the clay in his semi-final win, fell to Shelton and also down the rankings after not defending his title in a 5-7, 6-4, 3-6 loss to the rising compatriot.
It was a first title on clay for Shelton and Tiafoe still has his fourth ATP title in his sights. After some poor form for the last 18 months, he will take some solace in a great run again and will look forward to the rest of the clay court season.
"I mean sucks we couldn't get it done. Screw you Ben, but, yeah, it would have been cool to get number four. We'll get that soon enough. Let's just really build on this and let's have a good 2024," Tiafoe said (via Tennis TV on X).
