American tennis star
Tommy Paul’s superfan Eddy enjoyed his
every point during the
US Open round of 16 clash.
The fourth and final Grand Slam is moving towards the business
end as players from all over the world continue to battle to secure the ultimate
prize.
Paul’s journey in the mega-event came to an end as he lost
to young tennis sensation fellow American Ben Shelton with a score of 6-4, 6-3,
4-6, 6-4 on Sunday.
Despite the result, Paul’s superfan Eddy enjoyed every point
of his favourite player while sitting in the arena.
The result will be a disappointing one for the New Jersey-born
who, despite playing in the main round of the Grand Slam 17 times, has only
played once beyond the fourth round.
This was Paul’s best outing in the US Open as previously, he
only played in the third round once which was last year.
The world number 14 defeated Italy’s Stefano Travaglia in
the first round with a score of 6-2, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. In the round of 64, he got the
better of Russia’s Roman Safiullin in a five-set thriller with a score of 3-6,
2-6, 6-2, 6-4, 6-3.
In the third-round clash, Paul defeated Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich
Fokina with a score of 6-1, 6-0, 3-6, 6-3.
