Saturday at the 2021 Miami Open has been a spectacle with some of the highest-seeded ATP stars showing their skills.
It all started with a match between Kei Nishikori and Aljaz Bedene which lasted almost 3 hours with the Japanese player winning 7-6, 5-7, 6-4. Later, Stefanos Tsitsipas put up a great show to defeat Damir Dzumhur in just 70 minutes 6-1, 6-4.
Another spectacular match featured Denis Shapovalov and Ilya Ivashka. The sixth-seeded Canadian needed to come back from a set down in a match that was also halted by rain. But it was Shapovalov who came victorious to set up a third-round clash with Hubert Hurkacz.
Andrey Rublev made his second-round match against Tennys Sandgren a bit longer than it needed to be. The Russian led 6-1, 5-2 and had 2 matchpoints which he failed to convert. Then, the match was suspended for an hour due to rain and so the players needed to wait.
Finally, they returned to the court and Rublev managed to finish what he started before the delay to set up a match with Marton Fucsovics again. The two will meet for the 4th time in 3 weeks with Fucsovics pulling out of one of the matches.
