Novak Djokovic produced a sensational showing against Rafael Nadal whom he defeated 3-1 in the
Roland Garros semifinal.
It was an epic match by many proportions and many current and former tennis player marvelled at the level both Djokovic and Nadal produced. In the end, it was Novak Djokovic who emerged victorious 3-6 6-3 7-6(4) 6-2 and moved on to the Roland Garros final where he will play Stefanos Tsitsipas.
A sensational display in many ways, Djokovic was simply better than Nadal on a court which favours Nadal heavily. The Serbian also played against the crowd who sided predominantly with Nadal and his win impressed many including Mats Wilander. He said:
“Novak says this is the greatest match he’s played against Rafa at Roland-Garros and of course he’s beaten him once before, but it gets to the point where you can’t overlook these numbers."
Wilander further said:
“Obviously he has got Stefanos Tsitsipas in the finals and he will be liking what he saw in terms of the hours Novak had to spend. Novak could be on 19 after this and there could be three guys on 20 after Wimbledon. We have to start talking about the greatest of all time.”
