Barbora Krejcikova won her maiden Grand Slam title by defeating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the 2021 Roland Garros final 6-1 2-6 6-4. The opening set of the final between Krejcikova and Pavlyuchenkova opened as many matches of Krejcikovo did at Roland Garros this year. She served first and lost her serve in the first game. She then quickly pulled the break back and was up 2-1. We saw that many times and it just highlighted the calmness in her game throughout this event.
She never rushed, controlled the tempo well, and was able to play herself into a position from which she could hit winners. She blasted 13 of them in the first set which she won
Visit Article6-1. The 2nd set was a bit different as Pavlyuchenkova found some rhythm and started playing much better than before.
She stopped making cheap errors while Krejcikova overmatched in rallies tried to assert herself with more aggressive play. Oftentimes that lead to an unforced error and Pavlyuchenkova cruised to a 6-2 2nd set finish. In the third, it was Krejcikova who struck first taking the 2-1 lead with a break Nastia came right back to make it 2-2.
Both played well but Krejcikova was just able to find more magic in key moments. She broke Nastia once more to take a 4-3 lead which she confirmed with a solid service game 5-3. She then closed it out two games later 6-1 2-6 6-3 after one hour and 55 minutes of play.
