Ahead of BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells, the World Number One conundrum returns and Novak Djokovic could lost the top spot albeit his nearest rival will need to do well to hold onto it.
It will be called the Sunshine Double for a reason with Alcaraz needing to win both to get back and keep the World Number One spot.
That is if Novak Djokovic has to withdraw from BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells which looks very likely. It will be the same also for Stefanos Tsitsipas with both hunting the down the World Number One spot.
But either way with Djokovic unlikely to play until the clay court season, they could steal a march if not the World Number One spot in California and Florida.

If Novak Djokovic doesn’t play in Indian Wells and Miami, Carlos Alcaraz needs to win IW to get back to number one. And then to win Miami to keep it. So the Sunshine double… And that’s what Tsitsipas pretty much needs to be #1 as well
