For the third consecutive Grand Slam, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz will lock horns in the final, with both vying for their second US Open triumph.
The pair have dominated the ATP tennis scene over the past couple of years, with the last Grand Slam final without one of them coming back in the 2023 US Open final, where Novak Djokovic won his most recent major. Even the 24-time Grand Slam winner cannot get close to the pair.
They are set to battle yet again for the greatest prize in tennis, but what time does the final kick-off?

What time does it start?

The US Open final will be played on 7th September at 2pm local time (7pm BST) in New York.

How to watch the final?

It will be live on Sky Sports in the UK, ESPN in the USA, and Eurosport in Europe.

How they got here

As expected, both players got to the final without too much hassle. Sinner defeated Vit Kopriva, Alexei Popyrin, Denis Shapovalov, Alexander Bublik, Lorenzo Musetti, and Felix Auger-Aliassime on his way to the final, losing just two sets and conceding just seven or fewer games in four of his matches.
Looking flawless throughout, Sinner had carried on his remarkable hardcourt form into New York. He has just lost one tie on the surface this year, coming through a retirement against Alcaraz in the Cincinnati Open final. You have to go back to the Beijing final in 2024 to relieve his prior loss, again to the Spaniard. Since then, he went on a 26-match winning streak, which included winning the Australian Open, ATP Tour Finals, and Shanghai Masters.
Having got the better of his arch-rival in the previous two hard-court meetings, Alcaraz must be confident going into the final. This has to be true with the tennis he has played these last two weeks. The 22-year-old has breezed past all his opponents without dropping a set, the first time in his career to do so. Reilly Opelka, Mattia Bellucci, Luciano Darderi, Arthur Rinderknech, Jiri Lehecka, and Djokovic were all swept aside by the Spaniard, who is targeting a first title at Flushing Meadows since his maiden victory back in 2022, defeating Casper Ruud in the final.
After a horrendous US Open campaign in 2024, culminating in a round-two exit, Alcaraz has brought back normality and a familiar script. Backed by many to overthrow Sinner and claim his sixth Grand Slam, he is in line to retain the world number one spot with a win.
The pair have claimed one coup apiece against each other in Grand Slam finals this year. Alcaraz famously saved multiple match points before sparking an unthinkable comeback to retain the Roland Garros title, whilst Sinner clinched his first Wimbledon crown with an ominous victory. If Sinner clinches glory, he levels with Alcaraz's five Grand Slams. Alcaraz has come out on top in Masters 1000 finals in Rome and Cincinnati this year, but in a best of five match, the stakes are set that much higher.
