Emma Raducanu will face Serena Williams in the first round of the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati and she can't wait.
Raducanu never faced Williams before and likely won't face her again as the legendary American will retire at the event where Raducanu will be the defending champion. Emma, like many other players of her generation, grew up watching Williams and Serena was actually a 4x grand slam champion by the time she was born. To be able to play her, it's pretty fortunate according to Raducanu:
"For our careers to have crossed like this. I'm fortunate to be able to play her. Whatever happens, it'll be an incredible experience that I'll surely remember for the rest of my life."
Emma expects and exciting mathc and understand that this is it, it probably won't happen again:
"It will be an exciting match. I'm looking forward to it. It will be an amazing opportunity to play the best tennis player of all time. This will probably be my last opportunity."
After losing to Giorgi in Toronto, Raducanu did not waste any time and got straight back onto the court to practice:
"After losing, I got straight back out on court. I didn't take any time to reflect or mourn."
