French tennis player
Corentin Moutet and Australia’s Nicholas
Kyrgios had an interesting take after Spain’s
Carlos Alcaraz showed anger in
his most recent defeat in the
Cincinnati Open. The 21-year-old is already
regarded as one of the best players currently playing in men’s tennis, along
with Italy’s Jannik Sinner and Serbia’s Novak Djokovic.
Alcaraz’s most recent appearance came during the Cincinnati
Open where he suffered a shocking defeat against France’s Gael Monfils in the
round of 32. He lost with a score of 4-6, 7-6, 6-4. During the contest, the
Spaniard was clearly frustrated with his performance and he even ended up breaking
his racquet in anger. The video was posted on social media platform X as well.
France’s Moutet and Australia’s Kyrgios had an interesting
take after watching that video. Both players are famous for showing on-court
anger and on more than one occasion, have been criticised by the fans as well. “When
I do it I’ve got ‘mental issue’,” wrote Moutet. “Haha what about when do it?
Hahahahahaah,” responded Kyrgios.
Alcaraz, who was coming into the competition after losing in
the final of the singles category at the Paris Olympics, admitted after the
match that his performance in the match was the ‘worst’ in his career. He also stated that he could not play the way he wanted to.
“I think it was the worst match I’ve played in my career,”
he said. “I couldn’t play, honestly. I felt like it was another sport playing
on the centre court than the other courts,” he said. “I think it is impossible
to get any good things about this match. I've been practising really well here
in this tournament. The previous days, I was feeling great, hitting the ball
clear, moving well. I don't know what happened. I don't know how I felt like
this, but I couldn't control myself. I couldn't be better. So this match, it
was impossible to win.”
