Four-time Grand Slam title winner Carlos Alcaraz was relentless in the round of 16 as he defeated Grigor Dimitrov 6-1, 6-1.

Alcaraz rounded off an almost perfect performance against Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov. The player from Murcia allowed his opponent to win only two games in the whole match, beating him in all the lines of play. A triumph that reinforces Alcaraz's illusion of winning his third consecutive fifth slam title at the age of 21.

After the match, Carlitos exchanged a few words with one of the presenters, where he acknowledged his opponent, whom he had not beaten since 2023.

“It’s really difficult playing Grigor. He’s really talented. He can do whatever he wants with the ball. The last two times I lost against him. It’s always difficult.

Dimitrov had been responsible for stopping the momentum of Alcaraz last season, who had won in Indian Wells and was preparing to do the same in Miami. The Bulgarian was very successful, defeating Carlitos in the quarterfinals.

But Alcaraz not only managed to win his match convincingly, but he was also able to keep calm when the weather conditions were not the best, with strong gusts of wind complicating the development of the game:

"Today with the conditions it was really tough for both of us. I had to survive. I always say in these conditions you have to survive no matter what. I’m really happy I was able to play long rallies and got a good rhythm even with the conditions. Happy to go through.”

The next opponent on the horizon for the former No. 1 will be Argentina's Francisco Cerúndolo, who eliminated No. 10 Alex de Miñaur.
