Daniil Medvedev doesn't like clay and pretty much everybody knows that but the reasons why are not that well known as he explained recently.
There many reasons why Medvedev doesn't like to play on clay and one reason is that he hasn't been very good at it. He's pretty okay when he tries but he's never fully fallen in love with playing on the red dirt explaining ahead of Monte Carlo some of the things that bother him about the surface.
One thing in partilcuar is that you can't really use any of the equipment again due to it getting dirty:
"When I was talking about clay, I exaggerated a bit — a lot. Afterall, there are players who like to be dirty after playing on clay. I don't like it, I cannot lie. The socks, you can throw them away because you wash them and there is still dirt in them."
We'll see how he does in Monte Carlo this year.
