Zverev cruised past his opponent in straight sets to advance to the 4th round of this year's Australian Open
Although being a household name for a few years now Sasha Zverev never won any grand slam so far. He's won many big tournaments and defeated all of the biggest tennis names but it always eludes him in the slams. His quest to this year's Aussie Open started well. He didn't have any issues in
round 1 nor
round 2. In the 3rd round, he faced
Fernando Verdasco, a player whose aged but still loves playing in Australia.
The German started furiously as he was all over the court. It took him 36 minutes to take the 1st set 6-2. The 2nd set was a copy of the first. Zverev continued to do the things that brought him an easy 1st set victory. It worked as another 33 minutes later he was up 2-0 winning the 2nd set 6-2.
The 3rd set featured a bit more spice from Verdasco who played well. Sasha's level dipped a bit and Fernando took the chance to break his serve. It was 4-2 to Verdasco. After that, it was all Sasha as he played much better and won 3 games in a row. He served for the match and closed it out dropping only one point in the game.
