While Emma Raducanu lost her second final of the year, it was hugely positive for the former US Open champion who had her best run on grass in many years and leaves Queen's and onto Nottingham (if she still ends up playing the tournament).
Raducanu was lauded by Tim Henman and in particular the return of Andrew Richardson. Her former coach who returned for the last few weeks had her best success when they won the US Open together back in 2021 so it could in theory be an inspired move by the Brit to bring him back.
It is one certainly that Henman hopes will do just that and it isn't just idle hopes as Henman said that he heard the instructions to her and what he was giving to her and said it was only positive to hear.
“I think it is great Andrew Richardson is back in her corner. Obviously, he’s known her for many, many years, a long time prior to their success at the US Open," said Henman as per Sky Sports.
“You can hear his input from the side of the court, he was a good player himself, a very good coach and fingers crossed Emma will stick with it.
“I think consistency and continuity are something that has been missing for a number of years and I really hope Andrew gets the chance to keep building because this really is the first real opportunity for the relationship to flourish. This has been a really positive week for both.”

Raducanu lost in the final to Vekic

Raducanu left delighted with weeks work

Raducanu spoke on court and was hugely pleased with her endeavours. This is despite the fact that she lost in the final to Donna Vekic, who came in as a lucky loser and went all the way to the title.
Albeit as someone who is a former perennial winner on grass, it is perhaps not a shock and something based solely off her current ranking than her overall level and this was a bone of conjecture when it came to the coverage which acted like Vekic came from nowhere.
“It’s been an incredible week for me, making the final here, playing in my home city, in my home tournament," said Raducanu on court.
“The support I have received all week has been incredible but I really want to take this opportunity to thank everyone.
“Today was a really tough match. Donna played extremely well from the start to the finish. So thanks for getting me through some tough moment this week and also for helping me push back in that second set.”
