Alexander Zverev played a fantastic match to take down
Frances Tiafoe in four sets 3-6 7-6(3) 6-1 7-6(5) at the
Roland Garros (French Open) event securing a spot in the 4th round.
Zverev hasn't played that well this year but he's been playing really well at this year's Roland Garros event and this match further proves it. He was playing against a player who doesn't play his best on clay but Tiafoe produced a really solid level for the match. He gave Zverev plenty of trouble in this one but the German founds ways.
It wasn't perfect and he had some of his typical woes like the double faults but for the most part, he demonstrated a really good level that looked very similar to the one he showed last year. The serve was huge generally as it allowed him to win points easier when it mattered the most and the 13 aces were a big part of the 41 winners he had in the match.
He also had 46 unforced errors but that was still a better mark than that of Tiafoe who had 51 unforced errors. The American only had 34 winners which was a bit too low to win the match but Zverev's position on the court also didn't allow him to really hit that many winners either. A really good effort from both players but Zverev moves on.
