In 2021, the ATP and WTA season starts are quite unusual. After having the ability to play tournaments in Delray Beach and Antalya for men, and Abu Dhabi for women, all of the players moved to Australia, where they are set for a series of tournaments leading to the first Grand Slam tournament of the season - the Australian Open.
Before the start of the Australian Open, the fans will witness 3 ATP events and 3 WTA tournament. Men will have an extra event - ATP Cup, which started the last season and was very successful. Except for that, men will play 2 tournaments in Melbourne, while women will play 3.
While these tournaments are categorized as ATP 250, for women those will be a bit bigger events as they are seen as WTA 500. The Grampians Trophy has been added as the third WTA tournament, for the players that needed to stay in the quarantine ahead of the 2021 Australian Open.
