WTA 500 Grampians Trophy is the third tournament in this category, gathering players from the hard Melbourne quarantine who couldn't leave a room in the past two weeks.
The 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu returns to action for the first time since November 2019, overcoming a severe knee injury from the WTA Finals and looking eager to compete again. Bianca will face Leylah Fernandez or Sloane Stephens in the second round, ahead of the possible semi-final clash with Victoria Azarenka, Barbora Strycova or Anett Kontaveit.
Jennifer Brady, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Gabriela Dabrowski, Marta Kostyuk, Lauren David, Barbora Krejcikova and the 4th seed Elena Rybakina will determine the third semi-finalist. Belinda Bencic, Maria Sakkari, Heather Watson and Sorana Cirstea are the favorites in the bottom quarter, with exciting matches coming right from the opening round.
