Felix Auger-Aliassime will contest the final of the 2025 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships against either Tallon Griekspoor or Stefanos Tsitsipas after taking down Quentin Halys on Friday afternoon.
Auger-Aliassime notches a tour leading 16th win of the season and it is his third final of 2025. He sat at the turn of the week in the top 10 of earnings for the year and it is easy to see why as he continues to excel.
He raced past Halys 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 losing the first set but coming back well to seal the win. Auger-Aliassime has already won titles in Adelaide and Montpellier this year and could soon make it a hat-trick. He produced a resolve to Halys' big hitting as he won in just over two hours.
He faced the Frenchman who himself despite coming through qualifying continues to get better and he faced him last week and had a tough time then too. He won in a deciding set tie-break. He knew he needed to stay resolute after Halys was on a high after beating Andrey Rublev earlier in the week.
Auger-Aliassime found his way into his groove in the fifth game of the second set, he converted a break point with a sumptuous flicked winner to set it up before he converted to claim the set.
He rode this momentum into a deciding set where he raised his level saving both break points and winning 93% of points behind his first delivery. Halys isn't all doom and gloom as he moves up to World No.59 and with this run to the last four in Dubai, he may soon not need to qualify for these tournaments.
With French players going from having Mannarino, Humbert and Fils all producing, it is less of a golden era in the season that Richard Gasquet bows out so Halys will hope to make his own history. But for now it is on Felix Auger-Aliassime to plot his course to potentially another title.
