Stefanos Tsitsipas is the champion of the 2025 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships after taking down Felix Auger-Aliassime in the final pretty comprehensively 6-3, 6-3.
Tsitsipas wins his first title since Monte-Carlo in 2023 and in winning the ATP 500 helps to alleviate some of the points that likely will come off due to his win in Monaco as well as final in Barcelona. It has been an exceptional week for the Greek who has gone from searching for form to changing his racquet and finding a new lease of life.
He also finds his way into another title success by defeating Auger-Aliassime who has already won two titles this season and was looking for a third in as many finals. But it wasn't to be today.
Also for Tsitsipas, it finally ticks off a milestone. He is finally an ATP 500 champion at the 12th attempt. He has been in three finals in Dubai alone including one famously against Roger Federer seen as such as a passing of the torch and saw him almost in a rabbit in a headlights role.
But this time he was anything but as the new version of Tsitsipas romped home in just under an hour and a half. It may not be going right for one half of Tsitsidosa with Paula Badosa out of Merida Open Akron with a reoccurrence it seems of her back injury.
But for Tsitsipas today is his as he denies one of the most in-form players on the planet. The key being the timing of him breaking serve as he heaped pressure on and it finally told.
He went 4-3 up with a break and staved off break point chances as Auger-Aliassime nearly hit straight back then broke again for the first set. The second saw him break to go one away from the match after it looked like the Canadian would find a chance to grab the match by the scruff of his neck himself.
But in the end the pressure tolled and Tsitsipas eased to the win and adds another title to his collection.
