Losing the first set against Tristan Schoolkate last match, there was no such drama for the World No.1 Jannik Sinner on Saturday as he sped past Marcos Giron into the second week of the Australian Open 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.

It is the fourth consecutive year that he has reached the fourth round. He delivered a rock solid display as he won through in just over two hours. He asserted his dominance over the American especially from the baseline.

He wouldn't let anything go to chance early doors against Giron as he locked in to earn an early break in each set. He lost serve in the final set but apart from that, he saved six out of seven break points in the end to set his stall out in a statement win on Rod Laver Arena.

In set one, that saw him speed into a 3-0 and 4-1 lead. His serve remained basically untroubled in the first set as he could've broke for 5-1 but then finally served the set out at 6-3. The second set was kind of the same story as Sinner broke for 3-2 and staving off a break chance from there, he served out the set 6-4. The final set was a lot more fraught as they both exchanged a malaise of break points but after being broken at 2-1, he broke straight back then broke again for the win at 6-2.

He moves on to the second week of the Australian Open and his statistics are frightening in Melbourne with 10 consecutive wins, 10 consecutive in Grand Slams and also 17 overall since last October.

He now faces off against Miomir Kecmanovic or Holger Rune in the next round with the latter likely being the bigger test albeit only on paper as right now, there seems to be no stopping the Sinner train.
