Andrey Rublev and Daniil Medvedev's friendship translated into being together on a team during the 2023 World Tennis League which continues on Friday morning in the UAE and he brought some comedic relief after being asked about his relationship with the latter.
Rublev was given an innocent question about being the godfather of Daniil Medvedev's child Alisa and he retorted that he is her 'real father' while being asked about their friendship.
"I'm the real father, he's the godfather," Rublev said, bursting into laughter. But he later realised what he said and retracted his claim. "Yeah, I'm the godfather," Rublev said. But only after Medvedev and his wife Daria were left in stitches at the comment so no harm done.
The duo will team again on Friday in the second match of the day as Eagles anchored by Daniil Medvedev face Iga Swiatek's Hawks. They will be involved in Men's Doubles against Hubert Hurkacz and Casper Ruud second match up in the tie which begins around 15 CET with Sofia Kenin and Mirra Andreeva for their team vs Iga Swiatek and Caroline Garcia.
