Emma Raducanu and
Jack Draper were seen in the SW19 queue during
the opening day of
Wimbledon 2023.
The third Grand Slam of the year began on Monday in London
where players from all over the world will battle it out for the ultimate glory.
Like every year, some notable players have been missing from
the ongoing mega-event, including the likes of Canada’s Raducanu and Britain’s Draper.
On Monday, both were witnessed standing in the queue on the
opening day of the competition and they were surrounded by a lot of fans.
The tennis lovers will now have to be careful, considering the long queue
on the first day, as Wimbledon authorities have asked people to not join such
queue.
"There has been an incredible demand from the public to
come and join the Queue on Day 1 here at Wimbledon,” the statement read as per talkSport. "Understandably,
we are conducting an enhanced bag check operation. There has been a steady
stream of guests entering the Grounds since gates opened at 10 am.
"We have thanked guests in the Queue for their
understanding and we have also advised those thinking of joining the Queue
today not to do so as we will reach our Grounds capacity this afternoon."
Raducanu, who burst onto the scene after winning the 2021 edition
of the US Open despite starting through a qualifier, is missing the mega-event
after suffering an injury in the year.
On the other hand, Draper is missing the competition with a
shoulder injury as reported by the media.
