Emma Raducanu offered some important life advice to those following their dreams as she met with a group of scholars in Guangzhou, China.
The 2021
US Open champion has been a global brand ambassador for HSBC - a British universal bank and financial services group - since June 2022 and recently took part in a meeting with some HSBC scholars in the Chinese port city of Guangzhou.
In a video posted by HSBC, the 20-year-old can be seen engaging in conversations with the scholars while visiting Hong Kong's Greater Bay Area. In the video, Raducanu shared some of her own tips and life advice.
Raducanu says to never downplay your dreams and be persistent
"My advice for anyone who is trying to follow their dream is to not think that any of your dreams are too big and if you really set your mind to it, I think sometimes what may seem like a miracle can happen," she said.
This seemed like a clear reference to her victory at the US Open two years ago, where the then-18-year-old became the first unseeded qualifier to win a Grand Slam in the history of the Open Era. Raducanu defeated Leylah Fernandez in the final to lift her first and only major title to date.
The British player also opened up on her advice for when things aren't going as well. Raducanu has been forced to miss a lot of this season due to injury. In the spring, she announced that she would be undergoing surgery on her wrists and right ankle and has since been recovering and returning to training with the aim of coming back to the WTA Tour in 2024.
"I think when things don't necessarily work out how you want them to, it is very important to stay persistent with it. I think getting back on the horse as soon as possible is really important," she continued.
