Alexander Zverev has branched out to motorsports by acquiring a stake in the Alpine F1 (Formula One) Team, becoming a co-investor alongside a number of celebrities and sports stars.
The German player, who is currently ranked World No. 9, has been returning to form over the last month with a run to the quarter-finals at the US Open and a victory at the Chengdu Open. However, he faced disappointment in recent weeks with first-round exits at the Shanghai Masters and China Open.
However, he has been working on an "exciting" development regarding his interests outside of tennis, as he announced his stake in the successful F1 team on social media yesterday, Tuesday, October 17.
"I'm super excited to announce that I'm part of Alpine Formula 1 team as a shareholder. I've been a fan of F1 for a very, very long time and I'm super excited for what the future holds for this team," he said in the video.
The Alpine F1 team was formerly known as Renault and is one of the oldest and most successful teams in the sport, boasting racing legends such as Alain Prost, Michael Schumacher, and Fernando Alonso.
As a result, the team has a number of celebrity co-investors who make up the Otro Capital group, including Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds, Michael B Jordan, and Rob McElhenney.
Moreover, the team has recently acquired investments from a multitude of sports stars, including golfing champion Rory McIlroy, boxing star Anthony Joshua, American footballer Travis Kelce and Liverpool footballer Trent Alexander-Arnold.
