Nick Kyrgios has removed his remark aimed at
Jannik Sinner's girlfriend
Anna Kalinskaya who also used to date the Aussie ace at the start of her career which gained widespread backlash.
Kyrgios deleted the post a few hours after getting criticized albeit the phrase mud sticks applies with screenshots of course circulating all over social media and reports being put out into the public domain using his tweet.
Having recently shared strong opinions about the doping controversy surrounding Sinner, the Australian responded to a picture of himself and Kalinskaya in a well known image of the duo at a basketball game saying: "Second serve" after initially taking a poll as to who would win the tournament between Fritz and Sinner.
But he came under heavy fire also because he was on ESPN that evening as one of the lead commentators for the women's final between Aryna Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula.
Many on social media called out the broadcaster for allowing him to continue commentating under the cloud that was engulfing while he was in the commentary box. He is no stranger to controversy when it comes to unsavoury comments about relationships.
Back in 2015, he faced Stan Wawrinka and said during the match that Thanasi Kokkinakis his close friend had slept with the Swiss ace's girlfriend at the time Donna Vekic. He was later fined $45,945 and a 28-day ban as Wawrinka filed a complaint with the authorities.
Jon Wertheim on social media reacting to the latest incident referenced 2015 and said that he is now nearly 30 and is doing the same thing as when he was a boy technically. "Nick Kyrgios once made a misogynistic, wildly inappropriate comment about a WTA player, drew the anger of her ATP player boyfriend, his coach, and much of the locker room…but didn’t face real consequence, dismissed, as it was, as youthful indiscretion.
