ATP approves 12-day Masters 1000 events among other changes

The ATP board had a meeting where they approved some key aspects of the new strategic plans that include 12-day ATP 1000 Master events.
The ATP 1000 Masters event are the biggest tennis event on the ATP Tour behind the Grand Slam events. The current lineup consists of 9 events spread out in 7 different countries with varying formats. Most events are held during the course of one week (7 days) but some events like the Indian Wells and Miami Masters take longer.
That will change with the new strategic plan designed by the ATP that was approved in a meeting of the ATP board. Some of the key aspects of the new strategic plan are a new profit-sharing formula, new long-term prize money levels and expanding more Masters into a 12-day long event. The update was shared in a written statement by ATP chairman Andrea Gaudenzi.
