Mixed
Doubles Drama: Tsitsipas's racket smash surprises Badosa
Stefanos
Tsitsipas had an outburst of rage during his mixed doubles match with his
girlfriend Paula Badosa. The former world No. 3 smashed his racket to the
surprise of his girlfriend. The couple was facing the first round of the mixed
doubles against Mexican doubles specialists Giuliana Olmos and Santiago
Gonzalez, who took the victory 7-6(3), 6-4.
During the
tie-break of the first set, the Latin American duo was up 5-3 with a mini-break
in their favor while Gonzalez was serving. At that moment, Tsitsipas broke into
a fury after hitting the ball with the frame of the racket, committing an
unforced error.
Tsitsipas's
great anger surprised everyone present, including his girlfriend Badosa, who
had an evident reaction of fright when she felt the strong impact as the Greek
threw his racket against the floor.
Serena
Williams takes center stage as spectator at US Open
Serena
Williams returned to the US Open, this time as a spectator, and took several
photos during her visit to Flushing Meadows. The former world No. 1 will mark
two years since her retirement, precisely at the same tournament where she lost
in the third round to Alja Tomljanovic at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Williams
won 6 US Open titles between 1999 and 2014, sharing the record for the most in
the Open Era with Chris Evert, who achieved it between 1975 and 1982. The
23-time Grand Slam champion attended the match of the current male world No. 1:
Jannik Sinner, who easily defeated Christopher O’Connell in straight sets (6-1,
6-4, 6-2) to advance to the Round of 16.
Kyrgios highlights
Tiafoe and Shelton's heartwarming post-match hug
Nick
Kyrgios has remained in the spotlight during the US Open, despite now having a
different role as a television analyst. This time, the Australian praised the
post-match embrace between Frances Tiafoe and Ben Shelton at Flushing Meadows.
Tiafoe and
Shelton delivered one of the best matches of the US Open so far. The Americans
faced off in the third round and headlined the Arthur Ashe Stadium in a true
celebration for the local crowd, with both players showing their best form.
Big Foe
avenged the defeat he suffered last year in the same venue and advanced to the
fourth round with a win of 4-6, 7-5, 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-3. After the match, both
players demonstrated their good relationship off the court and shared a
friendly embrace, congratulating each other on the match.
The video
of their embrace spread on social media, and Nick Kyrgios shared the moment on
his profile, praising the heartfelt hug at the end of the match: “This is
sport. Good job fellas,” posted the former Wimbledon runner-up on X.

marking her last appearance in a Grand Slam main draw.
The

off her career on a high note. Collins is currently 7th in the WTA Race,
although she missed a valuable opportunity to earn points, with Emma Navarro
and Zheng Qinwen threatening to overtake her in the rankings.
Today,
Collins showed she’s enjoying some time off at the end of the North American
summer. The world No. 10 shared a video and photos of herself hiking in the
mountains, accompanied by Taylor Swift’s song “August,” set against beautiful
landscapes with her boyfriend Bryan Kipp.
