In a new Daily Dose of Social Media, we're looking back at some of the moments that defined the day at the French Open, including a notable reunion of 'Les Four Musketeers': Gaël Monfils, Gilles Simon, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga joined the recently retired Richard Gasquet at an off-court event.
The Roland Garros semifinalists are starting to take shape, with Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka 'dancing' to celebrate their respective victories, setting up a blockbuster clash between them. Meanwhile, Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic will hit the court this Tuesday vying for a semifinal spot. Ahead of their match, Nole 'accused' his rival on social media of spying on him, following a photo of the German with the Champions League trophy at Philippe Chatrier.

Zverev's champions league photo draws playful dig from Djokovic

Alexander Zverev snapped a photo with the Champions League trophy after PSG footballer Ousmane Dembélé brought it to the Roland Garros grounds the day before. The trophy graced Paris's most prestigious tennis court following the local team's title win, and 'Sascha' seized the opportunity to pose holding the cup.
The German received a hilarious comment from his colleague Novak Djokovic, who was set to take the court minutes after the trophy's presentation. Indeed, after the trophy reveal at Roland Garros, Novak Djokovic stepped out to face Cameron Norrie, securing a straight-sets victory and guaranteeing his spot in the French Open quarterfinals – where he will face none other than Zverev.
"Tell the truth. You were there because you were spying on my game. Seeing the trophy was just an excuse," Djokovic playfully commented on social media.
Zverev and Djokovic will face off on the tennis court this Wednesday, June 4th, vying for a spot in the semifinals. So far, they have met 13 times, with Nole winning 8 and Zverev 5, including their last encounter in the Australian Open semifinals earlier this year, where Zverev took the first set 7-6(5) before Djokovic retired due to an injury.

The Winners' Dance: Swiatek and Sabalenka boogie their way to semifinals

Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka lived up to their favoritism this Tuesday, winning their quarterfinal matches and guaranteeing a dream semifinal clash between the two multiple Grand Slam champions. In the morning, world No. 1 Sabalenka overcame a tough Zheng Qinwen, securing a 7-6, 6-3 victory. Later, Swiatek defeated Elina Svitolina – also in straight sets – ensuring another encounter between the two best players over the last three seasons.
Both provided entertaining moments after their victories, captured by WTA cameras in the locker room, as they danced while walking down the hallway after their matches. In just one more day, they will face each other for a spot in the Roland Garros final. Which of them will be dancing with joy next time? Currently, Swiatek leads the head-to-head 8-4 and boasts a 26-match winning streak at Roland Garros. However, she will be up against none other than world No. 1 Sabalenka, by far the player with the best results so far in 2025.

French tennis royalty: The 'Four Musketeers' reunite at Roland Garros

Elina Svitolina shared a photo of her husband Gaël Monfils alongside other legendary French tennis players: Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gilles Simon, and the recently retired Richard Gasquet. These players earned the nickname 'Les Four Musketeers', representing a golden generation of French men's tennis that brought significant results to their country over the past two decades. In fact, around 2008, France had four of its players in the top-20 for the first time in history, a feat repeated in 2011, 2012, and 2016 – all with the same four players.
Simon and Tsonga had already retired previously, and this week Gasquet joined them after falling in the second round of the French Open to world No. 1 Jannik Sinner. Now, only Monfils remains as the sole active tennis player among the 'Four Musketeers', and with his 39th birthday just a couple of months away, his retirement seems increasingly near. The four French stars reunited at an event and took photos, which Svitolina herself (eliminated this Tuesday in the Roland Garros quarterfinals) shared.
