The decision to allow Russian and Belarusian players to be involved at
Wimbledon again this year has been dubbed 'immoral' by Ukraine's foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba.
Announced earlier today, Wimbledon stated a caveat with players needing to sign declarations of neutrality forcing them to not express support for Ukraine.
But Kuleba took a similar stance to the likes of Elina Svitolina and Marta Kostyuk who will likely in time comment on the issue in that the atrocities are still ongoing.
He said they allow themselves open to accusations of hypocricy after doing a U-turn on their decision from last year.
“Wimbledon’s decision to permit the participation of Russian and Belarusian players is immoral,” he said in a statement. “Has Russia ceased its aggression or atrocities? No, it’s just that Wimbledon decided to accommodate two accomplices in crime. I call on the UK Government to deny visas to their players.”
