Professional golfer Nelly Korda, sister of American tennis star
Sebastian Korda, recently expressed her desire to emulate tennis legends
Roger Federer and Rafale Nadal.
The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) World No.1 won her sixth LPGA Tour title of the year at the Mizuho Americas Open on May 19. This increased her already impressive tally to 14 overall LPGA titles. Furthermore, Sunday's victory saw her become the first American to win six or more times in a season since Beth Daniel won seven titles in 1990.
Up next for Korda is the US Women's Open at the Lancaster Country Club, which kicks off on May 30. The American golf star took some time to give fans a glimpse into what inspires her, revealing she had great respect and admiration for Federer and Nadal. Furthermore, she stated she hoped to emulate the "grace" of the Swiss legend and the "fighting spirit" of the Spanish phenom.
"I think I have always had this mentality," said Korda. "I have always given it 100%. I have had. I have looked up to great athletes like
Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. I hope I have the grace that Federer has and then the fight that Nadal has. Just having people that I've looked up to and I've seen and I've admired, I hope that's something that I carry onto the golf course."
