Paula
Badosa and
Stefanos Tsitsipas shared training sessions at
Wimbledon.
The
official social media accounts of Wimbledon shared images of Tsitsipas and
Badosa practicing together on the grass courts as they prepare for the start of
the third Grand Slam of the year.
Tsitsipas
was eliminated in the round of 16 at the ATP 500 Halle Open by Nicolas Jarry.
The Greek player had a set point in his favor in the first set, but Jarry
showed determination and won the match 7-6(7), 7-5. Tsitsipas will be competing
this week in Mallorca, where he received a last-minute wild card entry, aiming
to gain more match practice on grass before Wimbledon.
On the
other hand, Badosa has been sidelined due to injury since her participation in
the WTA Rome Open, where she had a good campaign and reached the quarterfinals
before being defeated by Jelena Ostapenko. The Spanish player will be playing
in the WTA Eastbourne on Monday, which will be her only grass court tournament
before Wimbledon.
The pair
has been training together, and Badosa shared the photos that were posted by
Wimbledon on Twitter, expressing her joy: "Getting to do what you love
with who you love is priceless @steftsitsipas 💚🤝 #team."
The
Wimbledon tournament will commence on July 3rd and run until July 16th. Badosa
has reached the fourth round twice before, in 2021 (eliminated by Karolina
Muchova) and 2022 (eliminated by Simona Halep). As for Tsitsipas, he has
reached the fourth round only once, in 2018, when he was defeated by John Isner.
