Polish tennis star
Hubert Hurkacz has confirmed that he will
play in the Wimbledon mixed doubles event with the current world number one Iga
Swiatek.
The mega-event is set to be organised in the summer of 2024
in the French capital city of Paris.
Hurkacz, while responding to a question from a fan, confirmed
that they will take part in the competition in a mixed doubles category.
It will be interesting to see how the two will perform as
both does not have a great record.
Hurkacz has not played in the mixed doubles event in the Olympics. His doubles outing was short-lived in the 2020 event where he was knocked
out from the first round.
On the other hand, Swiatek played in the quarterfinal of the Olympic
games in 2020 but eventually faced defeat against the pair of Elena Sergeyevna
Vesnina and Aslan Kazbekovich Karatsev in straight sets with a score of 6-4,
6-4.
Hurkacz is having a decent time in the year 2023 where he
has won 25 out of the 40 matches played, suffering just 15 defeats in the
process.
On the other hand, Swiatek has been in phenomenal form in
the single’s category where she has won 49 out of 57 matches with just eight
defeats.
